CBH, a prominent company that produces equipment for handling and storing materials, will mark its 40th anniversary in 2024. As it celebrates this significant milestone, the company reflects on its rich history.

For a corporation that started in a residential garage, Carney has always set itself apart with continual innovation. “Our first project remained in use for over 20 years, said Wayne Carney, CBH CEO, proving our dedication to Quality and to creating real-world solutions for everyday operations”.

In 1984, fishing buddies Wayne Carney and Wayne Patterson founded CBH with no employees and full-time jobs. They wanted to create better solutions for handling forklift batteries, having seen co-workers and plant managers struggle with what was available. They knew there was a market for reliable battery-handling equipment, and they were right. CBH has grown into the world’s leading forklift battery-handling equipment manufacturer—but that was only the start.

In the last decade, Carney has expanded, reached new heights in innovation, and started initiatives that have continued to grow and optimize processes. In 2016, Carney Battery Handling dug deeper into fabrication, starting Carney Fabricating and employing a carefully selected engineering team to design custom material handling solutions.

Some of these innovations include powered all-electric transfer carts, picker platforms for big box retailers, and, most recently, branching into the metal industry, offering Coil storage and management solutions.

“We truly pride ourselves on providing end-to-end solutions. In addition to our standard products, we offer consultation, design, service, and installation to support our clients and their customers before, during, and after an order is placed,”. said Darren Osborn, CBH President. “It drives our commitment to fulfilling our role as a manufacturer and our focus on ensuring our products get the job done.”

Customers can expect continuous upgrades from the manufacturer in equipment and service as it celebrates this milestone birthday. Their popular automated system, the Mini Auto Changer, has been optimized to work seamlessly with AGVs. The company has released a battery changer with 12” of integral lift (the UNI-Tugger), and they’re launching a new “dealer portal” in January 2025 to provide distributors access to product resources, including manuals, brochures, images, videos, parts lists, and pricing.

As CBH celebrates its 40th year of business, having completed over 17,000 projects in 38 countries, it maintains an innovative team of engineers and a dedicated senior leadership team that ensures that, as the company evolves, its focus remains on its commitment to providing the highest quality products and the best-engineered solutions to improve productivity.
